The project originally started in 2005 by ceramic artist Mpho Gorewang with the purpose of helping underprivileged children or living in less-than- satisfactory conditions by providing them with both the artistic and entrepreneurial skills needed to improve their current living conditions and ensure a positive future.

About the project

A re Bopeng is a non-governmental, non-profitable, community

driven organisation aimed at providing children and young minds the opportunity to reshape their future through ceramic arts and crafts.

Although the project is largely funded by the National Department of

Basic Education, the project is, unfortunately, often thwarted due to lack of funding needed acquire the necessary resources to keep it operational, as such the organisation is greatly dependent on secondary funding generated through product sales and donations.

Handmade with pride

The A re Bopeng project prides itself in using only locally sourced natural clay for the manufacturing of its products. Each item is meticulously hand crafted, assuring that no two products are the same.

A special mix of cow dung, saw dust and field grass during the firing process contribute to each product's unique range of rich, natural colours.

Support the cause

By supporting the A re Bopeng project, you are contributing to the effort in encouraging young minds to improve their current living conditions and ensure a positive future through ceramic arts and crafts.

Every rand generated is ploughed right back into the organisation with the aim at not only keeping the project operational, but also assists the project to grow exponentially, increasingly providing more and more underprivileged children the opportunity at a better life and a better future.
